BMW 318i (E30)

The BMW 318i (E30) was one of the first models that customers were able to buy from the new BMW 3 Series. It initially adopted the already well-known four-cylinder in-line engine (M10) from the previous series, but from 1984 combined with a new, electronic injection system (Bosch L-Jetronic). From this point on, the vehicle could also be ordered with a three-way catalytic converter. Together with the BMW 735iA, the BMW 318i was thus the first catalytic converter model from BMW for the German market. With the 1987 model revision, a completely new four-cylinder engine was used (M40). From that point on, the catalytic converter was part of the standard equipment
