The BMW Museum opened in 1973 and has since evolved into one of Germany’s most popular company museums. More than 120 treasured cars, motorcycles and engines covering more than ten decades of BMW history in all its facets are presented in seven exhibition “houses” in the listed Museum bowl and in the Visions area over a total floorspace of some 5,000 m². Come and visit, and be amazed at the sheer diversity of our exhibits.

History, background, visions.

The BMW Museum offers a fascinating presentation of the company, brand and product history of BMW. About 125 of the brand's most valuable and attractive automobiles, motorcycles and engines are displayed on a surface area of 5000 m². Background information on the exhibits is provided in German and English.

The BMW Museum embodies the brand experience in Munich along with the BMW Plant and BMW Welt. It was founded in 1973 as one of the first ever brand museums and was redesigned and expanded in 2008. Enjoy deep insights into the tradition, present and future of the BMW brand.

The best of all three Worlds: The Premium Tour.
A tour in a class of its own.

From the past through to the present and the future of Sheer Driving Pleasure: the Premium Tour gives you the whole world of BMW including BMW Museum highlights, the most interesting sections of the BMW Plant and the main areas of BMW Welt. 

The first stop of the BMW Premium Tour is the BMW Museum. Here you will find BMW company, brand and product history showcased in a fascinating, innovative way. Discover 125 exhibits from over 100 years of BMW history.

You then visit the BMW Munich plant to gain a first-hand impression of the passion and precision that goes into producing individual automobiles. Follow the progress of a BMW as it passes through the bodyshop and the paintshop. 

The tour ends with a walk through BMW Welt. You are given insights into the facility's exceptional architecture and the complex logistics of providing a vehicle collection service for customers from all over the world, and you get a taste of the brand experience offered by BMW Welt. 

We regret to point out that some sections of the tours are not accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs/prams. For this reason the tour cannot be booked for wheelchair users. Nor can pushchairs or prams join the tours. We recommend that children should only take part in the tours if they are aged 10 or over.

The BMW Combi Tour starts at BMW Welt: here you gain insights into the exceptional architecture of the BMW experience and collection centre, the complex procedures involved in automobile collection and the world of experience of the BMW brand.
