BMW 316 (E30)

The BMW 316 Sedan was the inexpensive entry-level model for the BMW brand. It was available as a two-door model from the launch of the new BMW 3 Series (E30) in 1982, and also with four doors from 1983. It was powered by a four-cylinder in-line engine with a downflow register carburettor, which delivered 90 hp. In autumn 1987, the BMW 316 was completely replaced by the BMW 316i, whose intake manifold injection also made it possible to use a catalytic converter. Some vehicles were then produced at CKD plants abroad until 1991. In total, the BMW 316 sold over 295,000 units.
