BMW 1600 GT

After BMW took over the manufacturing facility Hans Glas GmbH Isaria Maschinenfabrik in Dingolfing, the Glas 1300/1700 GT designed by Pietro Frua was modified to form the BMW 1600 GT. In contrast to the Glas 3000 V8, the compact coupé was extensively revised. In addition to the BMW "Countenance" ("Gesicht") graced with the characteristic twin kidney grille, the BMW 1600 GT was given the engine, transmission and rear axle of the BMW 1600 TI and BMW materials were used in the interior. In contrast to the Glas models, the BMW 1600 GT was not supplied as a convertible.
