In the autumn of 1932, an automotive curiosity was launched in the history of BMW types: the three-wheeler delivery van F 76. The commercial vehicle was developed in Munich and produced in Eisenach (Thuringia). In 1933, the F 79 model with the same visual appearance expanded the range with a slightly more powerful engine. The two versions were guided with a proper automobile steering wheel and the rear wheel was mounted in a sprung swinging arm. The load-bearing platform of the BMW three-wheeler van could be supplied with an open platform, a closed van body or a wide payload area with tarpaulin and frame. Although the two versions were built to a very high level of quality, they failed to enjoy the degree of success anticipated. A total of only 600 units had been delivered between 1932 and 1934, and there was no successor model.
