The injection version BMW 518i was the second four-cylinder model alongside the BMW 518. It generated a power output of 105 hp, 15 hp more than the carburettor version, and the top speed was 15 km/h faster. By the time production came to an end in December 1997, around 48,000 customers had decided to purchase the BMW 518i.
