BMW 507

Based on the "conservative" looking BMW 502 sedan, the BMW 507 was finally created as one of the most beautiful cars in BMW history. The sporty, two-seated roadster was soon called the "BMW sensation" or "Dream of the Isar". The first design sketches were created in 1954 at the "BMW Research and Development Department Nürburgring" led by Ernst Loof. It was only on the advice of Maxie Hoffman, BMW importer for the USA, that the design work was awarded to New York. It ended up on the desk of Albrecht Graf Görtz, a student of Raymond Loewy, who was one of the most important designers in the USA at the time. It was him who is responsible for the appearance of the picture-perfect sports car.
