BMW New Class (Neue Klasse): Sedan

The four-door sedan was the standard body for the New Class (Neue Klasse). Between February 1962 and January 1972, it was supplied to customers fitted with a number of different engines and equipment versions, starting with the BMW 1500 (from 1962) through to the top model BMW 2000 tii (from 1969). The uncluttered and practical design of the unitised all-steel body deliberately departed from the conservative design of the BMW 501/502 Series and conveyed a more elegant and sporty appearance for the new four-door sedan. A total of 339,814 sedans were produced in the New Class.
