Only a few months after the model revision for the BMW X5 (E53), the BMW X5 4.8is was launched on the market. It replaced the BMW X5 4.6is, which had been produced until 2003, as the new top-of-the-range model. It was equipped with the 4.8 litre version of the new engine generation N62B48 and delivered power of 360 hp with a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The exterior of the flagship model features sporty accents such as the aerodynamically contoured front and rear aprons styled in the colour of the car and the oval twin tailpipes. The interior equipment was also exclusive. In spite of the high price tag amounting to 81,600 euros, 11,724 units of the sportiest representative of the BMW X5 (E53) Series were produced in a production run of two years.
