The BMW X5 3.0d was built from April 2001 to September 2006. During this period, it received two different engines from the M57 engine family (M57D30 and M57D30TÜ). The inline six-cylinder diesel engines feature common-rail injection and variable turbine geometry. This made the X5 3.0d the model for anyone who wanted to enjoy a longer range, most importantly on longer journeys thanks to lower fuel consumption, and desired a more comfortable journey. The BMW X5 3.9d remained the only diesel engine for the first BMW X5 Generation.
