The BMW M3 GTR was a road-going version of the BMW M3 GTR racing car. It was launched as a small series of just ten vehicles and was primarily used to homologate the new V8 engine (P60B40). The super lightweight compact engine made entirely of aluminium was throttled to 380 hp in the road-going version. And a manual six-speed gearbox was also installed rather than the SMG II. The exterior of the vehicle was not at all understated and was recognisable by the large rear wing, the engine hood with additional ventilation openings and the extended front and rear apron. The car was tuned to be extremely sporty and the entirely comfortless interior of the vehicle made the BMW M3 GTR a thoroughbred high-performance motor car.
