From 1982, the 2-door saloon was supplied as the first bodywork version of the BMW 3 Series (E30). The BMW 3 Series was launched in the marketplace as a 4-door automobile for the first time in 1983. An additional, independent coupé version only came with the success of the BMW 3 Series E30. The BMW 3 Series saloon was the style with the highest production figures by far and was supplied with all the engines available for the BMW 3 Series. The saloons were produced in Munich, Dingolfing and Regensburg, as well as at CKD plants outside Europe.
