The BMW 318 was released together with the other four-cylinder models in 1975. It was equipped with a Solex register carburettor and had a cylinder capacity of 1.8 liters. The BMW 318 thus achieved an impressive output of 98 hp and a top speed of 165 km/h. Production of the BMW 318 ended in 1980, but BMW has offered the BMW 318i with intake manifold injection as an alternative since 1979.
