The BMW 1802 Touring (designation from model '73, previously Touring 1800) was launched in October 1971 and this was therefore a little later than the other engines of the new body version for the BMW 02 Series Touring. It features good driving performance and fuel efficiency at the same time. For this purpose, the 1.8 litre inline four-cylinder engine generating 90 hp was connected to the drive transmission of the BMW 1602. The result was extremely good traction and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.8 sec, which ranks only just behind the bigger BMW 2002 Touring. Production of the BMW 1802 Touring ran from October 1971 to April 1974 and was discontinued after 4,075 examples had been produced.
