BMW 318i (E21)

For the 1980 model year, BMW revised the four-cylinder engines of the first BMW 3 Series and this closed the gap that existed between them and the new six-cylinder models. The 1.8 litre carburettor engine installed in the BMW 316 now generated an output of 98 hp, and as an injection engine delivered 105 hp in the new BMW 318i. The BMW 318i remained part of the product range in this version until 1983. The owners of the automobile were delighted with a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
