The 315/1 finally presented German sports drivers with the car they had been awaiting for so long. It offered a slanted radiator and inclined windscreen, along with deeply recessed doors, plus a fabulously sporty profile. The automobile featured soft curves and was additionally enhanced by a contrasting two-tone paint finish. Covered rear wheels and the curvaceous, tapered tail were considered to be attributes that epitomised an elegant, speedy sports car. The soft top and the spare wheel were integrated in the bodywork and absolutely nothing disturbed the dynamic, flowing lines. Lightweight construction, outstanding road holding and high speed provided the enablers for a successful entry into motor sport.
