The BMW 330d Sedan debuted in 1999 as the second diesel-powered sedan in the new 3 Series. It was equipped with the innovative common rail injection system that offered particular advantages for engines with more than four cylinders. The powerful inline six-cylinder diesel engine (M57) initially generated up to 184 hp and delivered a torque of 390 Nm. Following a revision in 2003, the power was increased to 204 hp and torque of 410 Nm but consumption remained virtually the same at around 6.6 litres. A total of more than 67,000 units of the rear-wheel-drive sedan were produced up to 2005 and most of the automobiles were manufactured at the Munich Plant.
