On 1 October 1928, BMW took over the automotive manufacturing facility Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach together with the Dixi brand and initially carried on production under licence of the Austin Seven small car with the designation Dixi 3/15 PS DA 1. From July 1929, this model became the first automobile to be manufactured embellished with the BMW emblem, the BMW 3/15 PS DA 2. The most important changes included a four-wheel braking system. Improved wind-up windows and adjustable seats enhanced comfort inside the car and a small baggage compartment was provided at the back. Alongside the all-steel sedan, BMW initially also supplied a touring car of this type and an open two-seater, additional body versions followed in 1930/1931.
