BMW 8 Series Coupé (E31)

Particular emphasis was placed on aerodynamic considerations when the body of the BMW 8 Series (E31) was designed. The cooperation between the bodywork designer Klaus Kapitza and the aerodynamic engineer Hans Kerschbaum resulted in a cw value of 0.29 - up to then the lowest value in the entire BMW product range. Another key aspect in the styling of the bodywork of the sport coupé was the improvement of active and passive safety for the occupants.
