BMW 3 Series (E46)

The fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series was initially only available as a sedan in May 1998. More body variants were gradually added, but the diversity of the predecessor (BMW 3 Series E36) could not be matched. For the first time in a long time, there was an all-wheel drive system (xi models), a concept vehicle for operation with natural gas (BMW 320g) and a seemingly endless range of engines within the individual body variants. With this diversity, it is not surprising that the BMW 3 Series (E46) was not only the best-selling BMW series with over 3 million units sold, but was also one of the most successful vehicles of its time overall. In 2005, the BMW 3 Series (E46) was replaced by the E90/E91/E92/93 series.
