The third model generation of the BMW 3 Series (E36) was initially launched on the market as a four-door sedan in the autumn of 1990. The complete redevelopment was a significant improvement in all respects compared with its predecessor and won over an expectant BMW 3 Series customer base right from the start. The programme was rounded off in 1995 with the BMW 323i powered by a 2.5 litre six-cylinder engine generating 170 hp. This was the third most powerful representative of this 3 Series generation after the M3 and 328i. It provided high driving performance and very economic consumption.
