BMW M3 Coupé (E36), 286 hp

The BMW M3 Coupé (E36) was delivered with several different options for the power pack. Between March 1992 and August 1995, production took place with the S50B30 engine for the global market with the exception of the USA. The S50B30 was an inline six-cylinder sports engine developed by Motorsport GmbH and it was based on the M50 engine family. The special feature was the first-time use of variable camshaft control (VANOS) on the intake camshaft. After the production run came to an end in August 1995, progress proceeded seamlessly with a revised version of the BMW M3 Coupé. A fundamental revision of the engine, equipment and appearance resulted in the BMW M3 (E36) generating 321 hp.
