Already six months after the BMW 2002 generating an output of 100 hp, drivers who were particularly keen on power were able to order the Type 2002 TI packing 120 hp. A broader track width, chassis stiffening and a bigger surface area for the brakes were more than a match for the increase in power. Sporty attributes like rev counter and leather steering wheel were also fitted as standard. The BMW 2002 TI accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds with the optional five-speed gearbox.
