BMW 3000 V8

The BMW 3000 V8 is a coupé styled by Pietro Frua and developed by Hans Glas GmbH. Initially, it was equipped with a 2.6 litre V8 power plant but this was replaced by a 3 litre engine. BMW also considered installing the inline six-cylinder engine from the BMW 2800. However, this idea was abandoned because the BMW E9 Series was about to be launched in the marketplace. BMW only carried out minor modifications of the vehicle. The sales literature gave the designation GLAS and BMW 3000 V8. Production of the model was discontinued in 1968 after 418 units had been built.
