The BMW 2.5 CS was only launched on the market in spring 1974 and was therefore the last model of the BMW Coupé from the E9 model series. This economical 150 hp version was not simply attractive for customers in view of the oil crisis at the time. The more favourable entry-level price by comparison with the other models was another appealing factor. However, the price difference of almost DM 4,000 compared with the BMW 3.0 CS was also evident in equipment that was not as extensive. Nevertheless, the BMW 2.5 CS gave its owners the same feeling of sporting exclusivity that was exuded by the other coupés with larger displacements.
