The BMW 2002 tii Touring is the sportiest version of the new bodywork concept. The engineering was based on the BMW 02 Series. The BMW 2002 tii Touring adopted the engine from the BMW 2002 tii. The mechanical Kugelfischer injection enabled it to achieve excellent performance accompanied by surprisingly low fuel consumption. The arrangement even complied with the strict emissions regulations in the USA. BMW offered particularly sports oriented customers the optional "Rally Package" ("Rallye-Paket") with lightweight alloy wheel rims and Recaro sports seats. The sportiest model was simultaneously also the most expensive - the basic price was DM 13,653. The new, unfamiliar bodywork concept only impressed around 5,700 customers.
