57 convertibles based on the BMW 502 were manufactured at coachbuilder Karl Bauer in Stuttgart between 1955 and 1956, including 11 four-door convertibles. These hand-built automobiles were produced to order and marketed through the BMW dealer network. The 2.6 litre eight-cylinder engine was installed in all of them. Together with the BMW 502 Coupés, they numbered among the most exclusive automobiles of the post-war period.
