The primary distinguishing feature of the BMW 327/28 was its three-carburettor power plant generating an output of 80 hp. This engine was also installed in the BMW 328 motor-sport model. The engine had a displacement of 2.0 litres and a technically sophisticated cylinder head fitted with V-shaped valves, and it accelerated the car to a top speed of 145 km/h. The automobile was fitted with a fully-synchronised transmission from ZF. Central-locking wheels and partial skirtings for the rear wheels were on offer as an optional extra.
