In 1936 and 1937, BMW built the 329 model based on the new Touring Sedan 326 in formal terms and using the engineering of the 319 model. The BMW 329 was replaced by the Type 320 in 1937 and it was only offered in two body versions that showed stylistic parallels to designs from Sindelfingen. However, the four-seater convertible lacked harmony owing to an overbearing rear end. The two-seater Drauz Convertible was a great improvement although only 42 cars rolled out of the coachworks.
