The bodywork of the sedan developed and built at the Daimler-Benz coachworks in Sindelfingen had increased in size compared with the predecessor model and offered a noticeably extended profile mounted on the longer chassis. This was not least due to the more elongated six-cylinder engine. The 1.5 and 1.9 litre engines now also provided appropriate power-plant options. The general public really appreciated the sophisticated interior styling with corduroy fabric. However, particular attention was also paid to the excellent road holding of the newly designed tubular chassis.
