BMW 318is (E36), Class II

The BMW 318is Class II was a limited special model of the BMW 318is (E36) from M GmbH. It served as a homologation vehicle for Class 2 motor sport (FIA regulations). The vehicles took over the four-cylinder inline engine provided with four-valve technology originating from the BMW 318is (E36). The lightweight and modern engine afforded a good starting platform for motor sport. The series comprised 2,500 units and all were given the same special equipment. A number of visual cues on the exterior (the most striking being the large rear wing) highlighted the model's exclusive sophistication in the interior. The features included a leather sports steering wheel, standard sports seats and a badge on the glove compartment. What's more, the four-door sedan with the benefit of lower fuel consumption was also ideal for use as an everyday runabout and a family-friendly car.
