Owing to its external similarity, the BMW 600 is often referred to as the "four-seater Isetta" ("viersitzige Isetta"). It's not simply the characteristic front door, but the compact shape with small wheels also inspires direct associations with the Isetta with which BMW forged the streetscape of the 1950s. Alongside the mode of entry at the front, the BMW 600 only has one side door on the right-hand side for stability reasons, making it a unique example of automobile design.
