Like the other bodywork versions of the BMW 303, the sporty 2-seater convertible was fitted with the 1.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine (M78a or M303). BMW's design engineers had developed the power plant specially for the BMW 303. On the basis of its displacement volume, the engine ranked among the world's smallest six-cylinder models but it packed 30 hp and accelerated the convertible to a top speed of 90 km/h. Only 27 units of the rare car were manufactured from May to November 1933 by coachbuilder Gläser in Dresden. This company was also responsible for the design of the bodywork.
