The BMW 600 represented the link between the BMW Isetta and the BMW 700. This four-seater was created with a front door and a side door on the right-hand side in order to compete with the small cars that were increasingly being launched in the middle of the 1950s. It was powered by a 600 cc Boxer engine, which had its roots in motorcycle construction, like the single-cylinder engine powering the Isetta. Although the BMW 600 was manufactured with very high quality, good handling and a spacious interior, it was condemned to a marginal role. The era of bizarre small cars had finally come to an end and automobile drivers were yearning for small cars with a modern look.
