BMW M1 (E26)

The BMW M1 was a two-seater coupé designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his ItalDesign studio. Certain similarities with the BMW Turbo (E25) concept car presented in 1972 were undoubtedly obvious. The bodywork was built on a tubular spaceframe. This featured optimal aerodynamics and its very low centre of gravity. The aerodynamics were also due to the pop-up headlamps, unusual for BMW.
