With the 2-seater, BMW offered the inexpensive entry-level model for the cost-conscious men's driver, who was more interested in the reliability of his car than in expensive luxury. The equipment was correspondingly rudimentary. The wood/steel body was covered with leather and had space for two passengers with small luggage. The all-weather soft top was made of plastic, the four side windows were plugged in and made of cellulose with synthetic leather trim. When driving, only the front two were often used to keep the airflow away from the driver at least somewhat. Because of its low weight, the small car was very agile, which was also reflected in the overall victory in the 1929 Alpine race.
