The BMW M3 Sport Evolution was launched on the market in 1990 as the most powerful development stage of the BMW M3 (E30). Like its predecessors, it served as a homologation model for motor sport and was therefore limited to 600 examples. Major changes were made involving the reduction in weight by 25 kg, increase in displacement to 2.5 litres and raised output to 238 hp. The exterior of the vehicle was instantly recognisable by a new bumper and adjustable rear spoiler. Just two colour options were offered: Black Gloss and Brilliant Red.
