The special series entitled "European Champion" ("Europameister") of the BMW M3 (E30) was created to celebrate the occasion of being awarded the title in the European Touring Car Championship (1988). Roberto Ravaglia was the driver behind the wheel of the victorious BMW M3. A total of 148 units of this special series dedicated to Ravaglia were produced between October and November 1988. Cars in this series were exclusively finished in Macao Blue and the interior was upholstered in Nappa Silver. A plaque bearing Roberto Ravaglia's signature was installed in the interior. The series should not be confused with the British Ravaglia special model that was limited to an edition of 25 units (see BMW M3 Johnny Cecotto).
