The BMW M535i took over the inline six-cylinder engine from the BMW 535i, but offered owners a more flamboyant appearance by featuring dynamic, sporty components from the BMW M Technic range. The equipment included sports seats and a sports steering wheel, a rear spoiler on the trunk lid and a flared-sill extension. In order to avoid any doubts, the automobile was also embellished with the motor-sport logo. It was available for sale from the beginning of 1985 and a total of 9,500 units were manufactured.
