The Z3 2.5i came on to the North American market as the successor to the BMW Z3 2.3 in 2000. The new BMW six-cylinder inline engine (M54B25) now generated 184 hp from the same displacement (2.5 litres). The rather more modest equipment could be upgraded with various accessory packages (Sports Package, Premium Package). The model remained in the product range until 2002. Over the production run lasting approximately two years, 13,140 vehicles rolled out of the factory gates at the Spartanburg Plant.
