BMW Z3 Roadster 1.9i (E36)

The BMW Z3 1.9i should not be confused with the BMW Z3 1.9. In fact, the BMW Z3 1.9i represented a renaming as BMW Z3 1.8 carried out in autumn 2000 with no changes in engineering. The BMW Z3 1.9i therefore took over the M43TU engine from the BMW Z3 1.8, which featured a new intake manifold made of plastic material and balance shafts. The equipment of the BMW Z3 1.9i is restricted to the basic equipment of all Z3 models because it replaces the Z3 1.8 as the entry-level model. The BMW Z3 1.9i was manufactured in Spartanburg until the BMW Z3 (E36) Series was discontinued. A total of 56,091 units of the BMW Z3 1.8 and 1.9i were produced.
