BMW M535i (E12)

In 1980, the last version of the BMW 5 Series E12 followed as the flagship model: this was the BMW M535i, equipped with an engine developed by BMW Motorsport GmbH. Powered by the extremely short-stroke 3.5 litre inline six-cylinder engine packing 218 hp, the car achieved a top speed of 222 km/h with acceleration permitting the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.6 seconds. As a result of the sporty special equipment including Recaro seats, optional spoilers for front and rear, and motor-sport stripes, these accessories also made an emphatic sporting statement.
