At the beginning of 1962, the BMW 700 Sedan received a revised, bigger body with longer wheelbase and an extended rear end. From this point, it was marketed as the BMW LS. The BMW LS was launched in April 1962 as a model version provided with basic equipment compared with the BMW LS Luxus, which had already been on sale since January. The customer made a saving of almost DM 250 with this model but did not have the benefit of the opulent chrome trim and a number of equipment details enjoyed in the luxury version. In October 1963, production of the BMW LS came to an end after only just under 6,000 vehicles had been manufactured.
