The first 7 Series (E23) was introduced in May 1977 together with the models BMW 728, 730, 733i. The engine performance and drive handling positioned the BMW 730 precisely in the middle of the two other models. Already provided with extensive equipment, the BMW 730 represented an exciting alternative to the significantly more expensive fuel-injection model BMW 733i.
