From 1961, BMW offered a better equipped version of the BMW 700, the BMW 700 Luxus. The supplementary equipment consisted of an electric clock, circular instruments, seat wear edges made of faux leather, oil-pressure warning light, standard fuel gauge, bigger steering wheel, front-pivoting windows and reversing lights. The additional exterior chrome trims were striking features. The luxury version was given the type designation BMW LS Luxus when the major model revision was carried out in January 1962. Up to this point, nearly 20,000 units had been sold.
