BMW 700 Convertible

In mid-1961, the BMW 700 Convertible was launched as the most exclusive model in the 700 Series. Coachbuilder Bauer in Stuttgart had put forward the idea of this open-top version and was ultimately granted the order for design and production by BMW. Baur stiffened the load-bearing elements, and the tail end of the car was redesigned. An uncomplicated open-top mechanism made it easier to operate the folding roof. BMW installed the lively 40 hp engine taken from the BMW 700 Sport. By November 1964, 2,600 examples of the BMW 700 Convertible had been produced.
