BMW 530i (E34), six-cylinder

Between 1988 and 1990, BMW supplied the 530i (E34) as a successor to replace the successful BMW 528i (E28). The six-cylinder inline engine (M30B30) initially installed was equipped with intake manifold injection and two valves for each cylinder and generated 188 hp. The equipment was more sophisticated by comparison with the BMW 525i (E34). An advanced V8 engine was installed in the BMW 530i from September 1990. More than 20,000 units had been manufactured by the end of the production run for the six-cylinder model in July 1990. Since the Touring version of the BMW 5 Series (E34) was only launched in the marketplace later on, the model fitted with a six-cylinder engine was only supplied as a sedan.
