BMW 8 Series (E31)

The BMW 8 Series was presented at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in 1989 and it had the status of the flagship model in the BMW model range. The concept of the Gran Tourismo, i.e. a sports car that was capable of driving long distances, captivated the imagination of customers. The BMW 8 Series was only supplied as a coupé and prototypes for a convertible and an M8 were never brought to series maturity. After the production run came to an end in 1999, there was initially no successor for the Grand Coupé (Großes Coupé). The next generation of the BMW 8 Series only arrived with the model series G14/G15 in 2018/2019.
