In order to serve the clientele that was inclined to prefer a conservative shape to the bodywork, BMW included another convertible model in its product range that was designed by coachbuilder Drauz located in Heilbronn. There was a large trunk at the rear that was accessible from the outside to accommodate a greater amount of luggage. Two additional emergency seats were located inside the car but they could also be used as an extended trunk. The two chrome storm bars on the roof cued a stylistic feature of much more expensive luxury convertibles.
