BMW 525td (E34)

The BMW 525td Sedan launched in 1993 was supplied in addition to the BMW 525tds Sedan. It shared the same basic engine (M51D25), although a charge-air cooler was not installed in the BMW 525td Sedan. This resulted in a somewhat inferior driving performance but this was mitigated by the rather more favourable price, which was some DM 900 lower. Apart from the automatic transmission (four speeds), the equipment provided in the two vehicles was equivalent. However, an M Sport Package could not be ordered as special equipment for the BMW 525td. By December 1995, nearly 15,000 units of the BMW 525td Sedan had rolled off the assembly line.
